i bought this goby the other day, cant remember the name, but he is the sh*t. he's white with orange pokeadots. he loves going around my tank tanking large mouthfulls of sand and sifting it through his gills. he's also made a nice bachelor pad under one of the corners of my lr. i feed my fish a mysis cube everyother day and spirulina flake food on the inbetween days. im also going to be adding some brine shrimp to their diet along with switching to some prime reef flakes. pretty much what im asking is if he'll be alright with that diet or must i satisfy him with something else? oh i also have 60lbs lr with plenty of bristle worms and such running around. I definatley don't want to lose him.
Thanks-Mike

Maybe a orngespotted sleeper or shrimp goby
Either one will do fine on that diet, Probly the sleeper if it has no problems digging tunnels. If you sand is live with lots of critters thats even better. I have tiger gobies and they are master tunnle diggers.

Just be carefull and try not to let it get spooked cause gobies will jump out of tanks but if it has dug a few tunnles already and stays near them then it should be fine now.

well thanks for the advice everyone, but to my wonderful surprise, i found him behind my tank today stiff as a board. im so pissed. i know exactly what happened too. i live in the basement of our townhouse and I guaruntee he hopped out when i turned on my lights before i left for class. just have NO so it goes from bright to dark like that. i usually try to turn my desk light on a lil bit before the tank light but not today. ahhhhh. i just hope i can find another half as tight as he was.

Did he look like this?.....
If so, he's an Orange Spotted Goby. His name is Bailey Nudd, and I feed him Hikari Marine S (sinking), Sally's Emerald Entree (frozen food), and he LOVES live brine shrimp.
Sorry to hear what happened. You could always get another one! Mine stays at the bottom, and only swims up to catch live brine shrimp and other food when its falling. I've never seen him go up past the middle of the tank.

i have one similar to that. its an orange spotted sleeper goby. or an orange spotted peal goby. Hes awsome though. Hes all my friends fav fish, but i cant pick a favorite. I named mine osama because of all the tunnels and holes he digs in to hide. I feed him anything meaty that i feed my normal fish. Any floating around, hes grab it, or if hes burried away during feeding time hes ok because he usualy comes out at night and will sift around my crushed coral and get some food there. Any meaty foods, frozen or pellets, even flakes once they sink.

eeps!! sorry! i hadnt finished reading! sorry about your loss. But i also have never seen my go past around 8 inches of my 18 inche tank, and thats only to grab food floating by. I recomend getting a plexieglass top or something to try to keep that from happening again.

Sounds like your describing a sifter gobie. This specific fish is a MASTER escape artists! I've had 2 of them. I got the 1st one with knowing this about them but thought I could be careful. But if the lid is even partially lifted even for a second...bam! That guy will get out and be found dead outside the tank. So then (stupid me) got a 2nd one and was even more careful. Still the same thing happened and I'm still not sure how. My tanks are covered! It's extremely difficult to keep them for this reason! Aside from this I never fed mine anything special. He sifted the sand and ate whatever he could eat that was laying in the sand. He kept the tank floor clean.
