What goes in the refugiums?

hey guys,
I just built a refu/filter. I was just wondering what is the best bottom base for the refugium. Live sand, Cruched coral, Miricle Mud or a mixure of everything.

I don't know much about Miricle Mud...
I use LS. Some have a DSB in the fuge for extra nitrate removal.

What's the footprint of your refugium?

well, i have a thirty gal. tank that i have made three compartments. The ruge is about ten gal. From thier it flows into bio ball and then back to the tank.

I would suggest about 1/2" of live sand and some Chaetomorph algae for that sized refuge. Ho much light are you going to have over it?

i was thinking about 13 w. of lighting. I have not yet purchased the lighing. i was going to do something simple. i was also thinking of have a total of 4 to 5" of bed.
