Lets see what we can do....
I agree that some of it looks chewed on. Although, a dying coral could attract many different animals; so it being chewed on may be the result of it not doing well.
#1--Are there any coral close to the blasto that could sting it? Many things have long sweeper tentacles and blastos are pretty delicate creatures and offer almost no defense to other coral attacking.
#2--is there a leather in the tank?
#3--what amount of flow is hitting the blastos? If it's too much flow then the flesh may get injured.
#4--is this piece attached or can you move it down lower to recover?
#5--have you been feeding the blasto?
#1 - no, the closest coral is a torch and it is more than a foot away
#2 - there is a toadstool on the opposite side of the tank
#3 - it's relatively low flow right there, that is why i chose that spot...
#4 - no, I can move it lower. should there be almost no flow where i put it?
#5 - I have only had it for about 3-4 weeks and I have fed it once a week.

Try lower and in the least flow as possible, at least until it recovers.
I don't think the toadstool should be a problem and if you have other LPS that isn't affected, then I doubt it's the issue.
Feeding once a week isn't bad at all--good job :)
I have mine in the sand where the flow is absolutely minimal. I've noticed that the lower I can get the flow, the better my candy cane, blasto, and acans seem to look.

This may sound stupid, but why would it matter if I had a leather or not?
on a side note, it is actually open now. will post a pic later

Some leathers release toxins.

I am sure Gill will have something to say about my crabs eating frozen....LOL
Emeralds are always picking.....so YES...if they are hungry, they will "taste" other things.....by giving them a piece of food directly, you also are NOT at risk of polluting your tank....believe me....they will not let go of it

So as not to disappoint.... name one thing in your tank besides LR that doesnt eat frozen! BTW the LMB was chasing frozen in my tank tonight.
Sorry about the blasto Jess.

I am being optimistic mike, lol. One head wasn't affected at all, so I am hoping it can come back. It actually opened up this afternoon.
