What is this??

Colud someone please tell me what this is. I came home tonight and found this on the side of my tank. In the past I have seen its yellow tenticals nly sticking out of the rock, both the substrate and the live rock.WHat is it and do I need to get rid of it??

OK thanks, wasnt to sure what it was I have them all over in the tank then, on my live rock and Substrate. I have never seen the whole body before just the tenticles as I call them.

Doesn't look like a speghetti worm to me. Looks like a Cirratulid worm. hair worm, lanicid worm. hmmm.

OH MY GOD! I always wondered what the long yellow tentical's belonged to in my tank i have several of them as well in my tank, pretty gross looking if you ask me.

I can tell you that Spagetti Worms aka Terebellid sp. only have tentacles originating from the head.
Cirratulid sp. aka Hair Worms have gills that resemble tentacles originating all down their body. This allows them to breath while completely submerged in mud.

the clear ones are spaghetti worms. I have them too. If you pull up one of your rocks in your sand bed where you've seen the worms youll find tubes of sand come up with the rock. One piece of rock I brought in i believe populated the whole tank in a couple of weeks. They clean really well.
