Yep, I have been in the animal field for about 4 years now. I have worked in an animal ER for about 2 1/2 years. I want to be an ER human nurse.

When you have euthanaisia certified on your resume you tend to get hired pretty quickly

I would have to say the rotts, bassett hounds, tiny dogs are the worst IN A CLINIC for anyone that wants to attack me

what about you

Yes!! we see lots of chihuahuas and they are by far the worst. There are also a lot of Jack Russells out here that are little ankle biters
I would have to say that the worst patients I ever see are cats. They are so unpredictable and the only animal I have been bit by so far.

Bassets r only bad b/c their veins r impossible... I happen to love them, but maybe I'm biased bc my basset is A PERFECT. ANGEL.

I would never EVER trust a German Shepard or an Akita, EVER. And u know who else is really bad and skittish? Weimaraners. They give you this eye-ball and they have that silent way about them before they try 2bite your face off. No fun at all.
Oh, and iguanas are HECK to work with. BAH!!!! Freakin razor tailed demons!!!!

oh I loved the kitties. u gotta get good towel skillz - and if the devil's in 'em, then it's the leather falconer gloves!! Boy oh boy those things make u feel like superwoman and it gets the job done QUICKLY without stressing the patient - b/c there's no struggle - just GRAB and GO!

I love Akitas but I do have to agree they can be sketchy. Weimaraners are horrible and they always bloat
I do know how to work the towel on the cats but I was bit when I first started out, I don't mess around anymore.
My hand swelled up to my elbow when I was bit and I was taking 875mg of Amoxicillin.

omg that is NO. FUN. I dunno how I got away with doing this for so long never having been bitten badly... I've been scratched and nipped and all that, but nothing BAD. Cats definitely are bad news when it comes to that -scratches and minor nips... ALWAYS mean infections and antibiotics. Yucky.
I HAVE, however, managed 2 stab myself with several needles. Talented, I know.

Are you talking about in a clinic or out in the real world? pit bulls and akitas never gave me problems. Bassets were not bad they just were squirmy and wined alot. EVERY single rott that came into the door tried to bite, but then again they were probably trying to protect their owner.
I have an Akita and he loves everyone.
