What kind of pod is this?

It's not a pod.
Looks like a Hydroid Jellyfish to me.

Really? He is stuck to my glass and pic was taken very close with an 8X zoom. What does that mean long term?

If it's a hydroid (I can't really tell from the pic) then it should be removed.

I too am fairly certain that it's a hydroid. They can rapidly multiply and should be removed from the system. Not a good bug to have.
I would use a scraper to remove it from the glass.

GULP! We get those at work in our FO tanks occasionally. I usually scrape them with an algae scraper, but now im concerned. what causes them and why are they bad
