What kind of skimmer do u have??

On my 2R I have the combo bubble trap/top skimmer. Seems to work really well but the downside of the top skimmer is that only the Rio will fit in it.

Reefnut- maybe I am not being fair to my Nautalis TE- I bought it with a RIO 2100 and that is what I am currently running with it. Maybe that is my problem. I hardly collects anything. What pump are you using with yours?

I'm running a mag 7. The Rio 2100 is the recommended pump though. Where is your slide arm discharge at?

Thanks for the diagram. I have mine at the low setting. Maybe I will try raising the arm a little. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

I use a Southbay 6-1 skimmer. It is designed exactly after the Euroreef, same pump and everything. Great skimmer.
Sounds like you are thinking low cost HOB skimmers though. Be careful if so. Don't skimp on the skimmer. You'll regret it.
But if this is for your 30g, a CPR should do OK. Kip was correct though, in that you will spend a lot of time taking apart, and cleaning the pump.

I can see why you have been unhappy. Raise the top of the slide arm to about 1" below the top ring and you will see a huge difference...

acually i just bought a sump and now all i need is a skimmer. IN sump or hang on sump, i would like an in-sump. I'am looking for something under $100 including shipping. What is a good choice?
The sump iam getting will be like this, water runs threw the wet/dry then sump with skimmer then a small fuge.

Lots of EuroReef users out there...funny thing is I seldom here bad comments about them!
I think it was Azonic that mentioned the LifeReef products...another well regarded skimmer. I've never seen one but I have talked to the guy that builds them(I run his 700gph slime line hang on overflows) and he sounds like a hobbyist first and a business man second. He does build very nice equipment but none of it is cheap....worth the extra money however!
I'd also urge caution on purchasing a hang on skimmer for a reef system...take care to avoid wishing you'd of spent the money on a larger skimmer the first time!

Agree 100% with above statement.
I started by previous tank(90 gallon) with a Skilter 400 as my "skimmer"...if it can be called that. It's one piece of equipment you don't want to skimp on.

Azonic -- I use the same set up from lifereef except i have a mag 7 running the skimmer. I also have the clfi sump for my 75. I love the skimmer but how do you keep your water level steady in the sump? Also isn't the mag9.5 too strong for it. I run the 7 with valve all the way open and i still can not fill my sump all the way. I find it hard to keep the water level at the right spot for my skimmer from all my evaporation. Any ideas?
Thanks
Martin
