What kind of snail is this?

This came on my live rock last year, its about .75 inches long, and the shell is extremely flat.... Looks like little tiny spikes off of the shell as well... Its a good addition to the tank right?

Can you get a better pic of the shell itself, and a more clear pic of the ped and head of the snail?

He's gone, but i turned the light out to coax him out again. If I get him to come out I will take another better picture... of top and bottom...

Can you do a search on Abalone and compare pictures. Explain how they differ. That could help.
