Well its brown with a yellow edging to the what looks like petals. Seems to have four center petals about 1/4 inch across with a larger outer section.
It just showed up this week..... That is about the best I can describe it.
What the heck is it??? Good or bad?....sorry hard shot in the tank to photograph well......... Thanks Warren

It's a calcareous algae commonly called Wafer Algae. Try a Google search on Lobophora variegata and confirm because I can't see the pics very well.

what he said. I had it on two hundred pounds of rock and got rid of must of it because it does not go away and it grows on everything.

I've got the same stuff on my live rock. Had a heck of a time identifying it. What was recommended to me by my LFS was to get a spiny black urchine or a Naso Tang, so I got both. The Naso Tang did the best job of getting rid of it (until he died) now the spiny black sea urchine tries to take care of it all himself. Unfortunately he also eats the nice coraline algae.
I sympathize with you. I hate the look of the stuff and I can't seem to fully get rid of it. Here's what it looks like on one of my rocks.

Well I took the piece of Tonga out of the tank. Hopefully that's the only piece that has been "infected" with the crud yet.
The Tonga was a nice piece too! It's now in a Fresh Water bath before bleaching to kill it!!
