YES, they are......that's why I said you should forget it for now....IMO diamonds are something that both should shop for...just cause they are sooo expensive, and it seems to me that you aren't ready for that type of expense.....
I mean.. I have no problem paying for stuff.. if it's stuff that I want ;) lol... I'm such an awesome man.

With the things you come out with I'm surprised you are still married

you're telling me a girl, wouldn't like a whole set of bath towels and kitchen towels. The smarter people in the room call it nesting, i don't understand it but hey if I understood woman I'd be a gazillionaire. But newly wed, first birthday, buy her something for the house, that she just couldn't bring herself to splurge on...
In my case it was silverware that she wanted she just couldn't bring herself to spending 100 bucks on. But maybe take her to pick out bedding, that is in the 100-200 dollar range, a set of towels, window trimmings, or whatever...

DON'T DO IT!!!! LOL.....One thing I NEVER wanted was an appliance or a household item.....NOW this is JUST ME....BUT I always found that very impersonal.....Household stuff we buy together for the home....UNLESS she SPEFICALLY asks for it...
Tools are different...IMO they are personal...guys (and gals) like to tinker with stuff, and having the right tool is well IDK...kinda like a masculine thing (or feminine if that suits you)
LOL...Then again....You know your wife better then we do....she might be very happy with a toaster

lol

dang right, those are for HER and must be very clearly defined as for her. If it were up to me, (and I wasn't trying to get some, face it that is the only reason guys decorate their house...) I'd have a bunch of camping chairs in the livingroom, my old lazy boy infront of the fish tanks, a giant TV, and a bed, infront of another giant TV. Every dollar that gets spent above that counts as a present...

Well... I ended up getting her a card with a really old dude in skimpy undies sunbathing.. when you open it it reads "I thought you'd want some roasted nuts for your birthday...."
I got her some chocolate cause she's been craving it.... guess she'll start getting fat now... marriage adds like 60 lbs right? :)
Also got her a gift certificate which she used to buy.......those diamond earrings.... oh and I took her out to eat.

only if the buyer is an aquarium guy too. My wife tried to do aquarium stuff one year, and she ended up bringing me home a red sea prizm skimmer. It went back...

My husband would never buy me anything for my fish tanks....LOL...He sees what I go through when I am "contemplating" an order...I also AGREE in that fact that (if the hobby is not shared) it is best for people to NOT buy aquarium stuff....
How many times have you read....my g/f or my b/f bought me an eel (just an example) cause they thought it was cool....NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH IT? LOL

A authentic Coach purse is always a nice gift. My wife gets a couple every year. Jewerly is also a good choice. Diamonds are a girls best friend. If she is not into those, maybe a Mossberg camo shotgun, hunting vest, camo clothes.

For me it is simple for my wife. I take her with me to the LFS and say Pick out what you want. Of course last time I did that I ended up with a Unicorn Tang on Hold along with a Copperband on order. Both are in QT there for me right now come home on Thrusday. I love MY WIFE I LOVE MY WIFE
Considering that her fish cost more than MINE do and I now have to find Space for all of them. Show size Unicorn mixed in with 7 other tangs I hope like hell he can hold his own. I NEED THAT 300 SO BAD.
