What type of sand for a dsb

I ordered sand and it came today but do not like what I got.
I thought it was what I already have but it wasn't.
It was Seaflor Famingo Pink Reef 1-2 mm grain size.
I want something smaller in size for a dsb bu I am confused.
I am returning the sand I bought and don't know what to get.
Should I get the Aragamax Sand that is 0.2-1.22 mm. I guess it is called oolitic sand.
I am ordering from Doctors Foster Smith catalog and in the caption it saysideal for shallow static beds and 1" bottom covering.
Or should I get the Fiji Pink sand, #0 extra fine 0.5-1 mm.

East Coast - check your local Home Depot. They carry Southdown Tropical Play Sand. It is like $5 for a 50lb bag. Nice, fine sand - very popular in tanks.

I thought about that but I remember someone saying to be careful because sometimes there is more than sand in it.
If it is play sand is it going to be a nice white color or that awful brown like at a play ground.

try and get a mix of grain sizes for your sandbed. i use about 3/4 aragamax oolite, and about 1/4 seafloor special grade. i try to layer the sand, even though most of the coarse stuff ends up settling on the top, but it makes for a very nice and pleasant lookign bed and allows maximum filtration efficiency!
good luck

It isn't bleach white, but it is lighter. Looks pretty light colored in my tank - definitely not brown.
I don't know what else would be in there. Do a search on Southdown on the board. You will see a lot of positive comments about it.

Thanks for the replys.
I think what I have in the tank right now is the seaflor special grade. About 2" in most areas.
Probably going to go with the aragamax.
DVSKIN.
Not sure if you want to drive but if you are looking for the sand. Try the home depot they just built in North Kingstown.

Ya.
I live in NK and always go to the fish bowl.
I just recently bought a rock with mushrooms and a leather coral on it and a rock with xenia.
The mushrooms are doing great but the xenia has only opened a few times.
I raised the salinity a bit and just got iodine. Hoping this will. help.
Are you the owner or just an employee?
I think it is a wonderful store.
Does the store have southdown in the tanks or do you use it in your personal tank.
