Just skimmed through this thread, but you might want to contact these people from petfinder They might be able to help you. BTW one of our dogs was returned to the shelter when she was four months old because she chewed up too many things. She is a puppy people, that is what they do. This dog has turned out to be the most incredible dog in the world. So just goes to show you that some people just should not keep pets, like the people that got rid of the puppy that you have.
BTW, I commend you for rescuing a dog like that, you have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Well, I'd like to try to find the family and I'd hope that if my dog every ran away someone wouldn't just keep him and would try to find the owner.
This philosophy of "It's a stray, why not just keep her," is the number one reason why most people are never reunited with their lost pets. Many pets that get lost become frightened and hide, etc, and in the process get filthy, making them look unkept and people who find them say, "This dog wasn't taken care of, I'm not going to look for it's owner," and keep it for themselves.

On a side note, I found the owner last night. The family is actually giving this puppy up for adoption because they've realized that she's more work than they can handle. I might adopt her if a friend of mine doesn't. I honestly don't want the responsibility of a second dog right now, but if no one takes her by the end of the month, I told the family I'd take her.
Well, that's a good news that you found the owner. At least that dog is safe now.

If it were me I would call animal control. "The pound is full" is not a valid reason for them to not pick up a stray. If they refuse I would call the County Clerk and ask her if she was aware that Animal Control has abandoned their obligation to the tax payers and then ask her when I should expect the dog to be picked up.

Exactly. My pound holds dogs for 2 days and then puts them down. 2 days is just not enough time for an owner to find their dog...
My town is completely corrupt. Complaining would get me nowhere. I had the means to foster the dog until I found it's owner or a new home so I did.

I posted her info on petfinder immediately. The problem is that everyone thinks it's their dog. A few weeks ago there was an article in the newspaper about some lost dog that they found 50 miles away from it's original home and was finally reunited with its family so now petfinder people get calls from people miles and miles away thinking you've found their dog :( sigh

No, she gets out. She got out on me too and when you chase her to try to get her back, she thinks it's a game and just runs faster. Luckily my dog herded her back into my yard for me because I couldn't catch her. She's tiny and can squeeze her way under gates. She got right under my back gate and started booking it into the woods. I was chasing the little rascal in heals, LOL.
I'm just glad she's back with her owner, but sad that they don't want her. I think my friend is going to adopt her.
There's nothing wrong with the pup, the owner just isn't home enough to train her and she gets bored and misbehaves. Some people just shouldn't own pets.
