I think uncured live rock is the best way to cycle a tank. The second best way is feeding live sand with flaked fish food.
Just my opinion.

Lol, I don't think we have anything to 'kiss and make up' for. I respect him very highly and know his information is almost ALWAYS accurate, although he is human and is sure to make at least one mistake every ten years, but... i think what we had, although we were discussing different topics and were actually both right, was a very appropriate discussion.

Cycle times are unpredictable. If you're in a hurry then fresh water is a better choice.
The tanks I've cycled recently took from 6 - 8 weeks until they were ready for a pair of Clownfish. Your results may vary.
