What's the pro's and con's of having a eel in a tank-?

The first eel I got was a large Fire eel for a FW tank and my wife HATED it. Over time with hand feedings and watching it...she now loves eels and has allowed me to dedicate a tank to our new DME as well as have a Golden Banana moray and a large SFE in our 240 community tanks.
She now calls them her babies. Give the GF and wife time to watch him feed and they may warm up to him.

I have to agree with Harley. My wife is deathly afaid of snakes and as far as she was concerned, my SFE "Frosty" was just another water snake. He has been with us almost a month now and she loves watching him eat and said, "He is pretty cool". Last night, the whole family got around the tank to watch him eat shrimp!

I find education is the best key to curing a fear. Good luck.
