Many people add it. Most don't know that they do though.
Borate is a perfectly valid Alkalinity component but I would avoid maintaining greater than NSW levels. Some Salt mixes (Sea Test) contain monsterous amounts of Boron and that can make Carbonate levels difficult to monitor and understand IMO. Maybe if I had more knowledge of Chemistry I wouldn't be so down on it.
