My secret weapon by the way is Reef Solution by Ecosystem sold on this very site!I've noticed in two different tanks, the difference in frogspawn from the same colony,I split two heads and the polyp extension in the tank with Reef Solution was 3 times bigger! All the same parameters and flow.Bravo Reef Solution!

Every tank needs a differant weapon but the succes is when we all find that weapon and stick to a dedicated schedule, and not slacking off, All my problems were in the first 2 years of discovery and trying new things, now I have a strick schedule of biweekly 40 gallon water changes, one teaspoon of baking soda every night, feed fish daily and kick the skimmer to restart it after power outages. all corals are growing and gettign traded fish are fine and clowns breeding, 2 fatalities in past 2.5 years when they went A-Wall.

maxalmon - you mean that you just drop it into a corner of the aquarium? Or crop it into the back of the filter compartment behind the filters? I am REALLT new at this!
Thank you.

mine is not enough money to rush. It took me from last spring til now to get my latest tank set up. at the rate I can afford to add stuff I'll never move too fast. I guess that makes my wife, kid,

and car payment my secret weapon. I like to tinker with my car to so I go thru phases where I let the tank be and get into car stuff. that my stability weapon.

Quick answers to some unanswered questions above:
Plant life refers to an old member that had some... different and dangerous views on tank husbandry. He has moved on to other forums with his ideas...
Limewater/Kalkwasser - Cheap way to add/maintain Calcium and Alk. Check the FAQs it has been hashed to death.
Two part solutions/B-Ionic: Works well to maintain/add Calcium and Alk. Many people roll there own because it is expensive otherwise.
Not putting hands in tank: This means to not constantly rearrange, tinker with tank, changing the environment and IMO chemistry. Sometimes people will add a fish/coral and instead of letting in acclimate they are moving it around force feeding it and in the end adding more stress than help. Moving the rock around all the time can also stress fish and corals. Not to mention your hands leave oils in the water.

I think it's a lot of things for me. Barebottom tank with cranked up flow, remote DSB, oversized skimmer, and ca reactor.

Good sized sumprefugium. Lots of caulerpa, Lots of water movement and am willing to take lots of advice from smarter people than me.
I also use kalkwasser for make up and bionic 2 part sparingly.
