Ok. Thanks for the info! My xenia still dosent want to pulse and it looks kinda bad, i found out that someone in the tank is bitting off the heads of the xenia, like 7 so far, and the clown fish wants to host the xenia. Can the xenia die? I had the xenia for 14 days. Ill post some before and after pics.

You mentioned the Xenia was being eaten once before. Any idea what it is? I've never seen Xenia get eaten before.

My guess is that it is simply closed. When it pulls in, the edges can look "torn".
I also think you said your LFS was *****, in that case, I am not sure why you would take their word for much of anything. You have been given great advice on this thread. I would take a moment to reread it.

Have no idea who's eating the xenia. It was more like cutting the heads off of the xenia, i found 2 xenia heads laying on the sand bed, and some i have no idea what happened to them, someone probably ate the rest. Just found out that my clown wants to host the xenia. I called up the LFS and a guy said that he probably thinks that the emerald crab is eating/cutting off the xenia heads, so far there are about 4 heads of xenia gone but the xenia is growing them back. So far no one has been cutting the xenia. It looks kinda better right now. Ill post some before and after pics. Hope who ever was cutting the xenia stopped cutting it. Can the xenia die if the thing that was cutting the xenia keeps on cutting the xenia? Right now its looking a lot better when the thing stopped cutting the xenias heads off but it still doesnt look the same as it was when i got the xenia from the store. So far no one is cutting/eating the xenia, hope they never ever cut it again! I don't think its the emerald crab because i got an hair algae problem and i got a ton of hair algae, so it doesnt starve. Ill list every thing thats in my bio cube. There is 1 clown, 3 hermits, 5 snails, 1 marble crab, 1 guppy, 1 cleaner shrimp, 9.6 LB of live rock, about 8 lb of sand, torch, metallic green torch, toadstool, 2 zoos, xenia, and 1 anemone, if any one has an idea who you think might be doing that plz feel free to tell me.

You might be right about it being closed up and it is looking like it has been torn off. I don't trust *****, so i didnt call ***** i called a better LFS. Again ill post some befor and after pics of the xenia.

I suppose in a Nano tank it's a little different than my sump, my rubble is in a very high flow area, water from tank falls on it, plus I actually have some hermits and snails in that compartment to keep it clean.
It would probably be a bit hard to do that in a little Nano compartment.

I had four Xenia frags and my Cleaner Shrimp picked apart two of them. I was shocked and I know it was him because I watched him doing it.
Several times I used a feeder stick to poke him back. He has since given up and my two Xenia that are left are doing good. So keep an eye on your Cleaner Shrimp.

I do keep an eye on him, iv only seen him there a few times, he doesnt go to the xenia a lot. I keep an eye on my bio cube and my FOWLR tank, they are right near the computer. So i am watching them as i type.

I use my Emperor 400 HOB Filter as my fuge. I just removed the filter pads and stuck some cheato in each side. I bought a 50-50 bulb and socket from *****. It just sits on top and I move it from one side to the other every day so each side gets enough light. I have LiveRock rubble at the bottom. Plenty of pods in there.I am constantly trimming cheato out of it as it grows really fast and it has really helped my nitrate problem. When I want to run carbon I just fill a bag and stick it in there with the cheato and it has been fine.

Ok, thanks for the idea. But it wont work because i have a 8 gallon oceanic bio cube. I need an idea that will work on a 8 gallon oceanic bio cube. That Emperor 400 HOB Filter wont fit any where in the bio cube.

Rappa that is an interesting idea with the Emperor 400. What other filtration do you use? What type of tank do you have?

You do not need a filter. But it can help to keep the water clear if you run carbon in there. I and many others have run succesful tanks without any type of filter or refrigum. Your rocks and sand are the filter.
You can put the cheato anywhere you want there are not rules except:
- it needs to be in the water.
- it needs strong light. being a plant it reallty likes 6500k. but anything will do. If you want get a hang on fliter. if not get a sponge dish like seen above and pit it in there. I was just at target and they had some real nice deep and long ones.
Its exer than you think. dont make a big deal out if it. Heck I would bet that one of those algae clips would work with a small amount.
