Whisk, I just spent the better part of an hour reading the entire thread. GREAT STUFF! Thank you for posting all this info! I've been posting here a while, researching my first saltwater tank and I've learned a lot from your thread. I finally bit the bullet today and purchased a 29 gallon cube, hopefully I can keep everyone updated on my tank much like yourself. Thanks again!

hey thanks Wilks. i started the thread to help all new folks with their first saltwater setup. Sorry I havent posted much lately on my progress. Hope you are learning and it sounds like you have done the right thing and researched before buying anything. Good luck on the 29gallon. If i had a little more room that is the one I would have gotten. Youre gonna love it.

Thought I would give an update. Borrowed a friend's camera and took new latest pics.
No new corals as of late, but I do have pictures of the new goby I've had for about a month now. He is doing well and loves his mysis shrimp. He had an accident jumping into the back chambers and spent 4 days back there before I finally saw him. He is back to hiding under his favorite rock and eating again.

The cyano problem seems to be vanishing. I've been doing 20% water changes everyweek for a month now, been siphoning any trace of it i have seen, and redirected flow a bit. Seems to be working.
Corals have been growing rapidly as of late, especially the GSP and green palys.
Temperatures have been rising now that we're well into spring. Room temperature gets up to about 75 a day and have notice a two degree increase in tank temp. Goes about 80-81 degrees during the day. I have my lights come on at night now and have got the temp fairly stable.

I have one for now. I havent updated in so long but I wanted to give an update. Everything has been doing great lately. I had to move about a month and half ago and the move went fairly well, took only about 5 hours to move and resetup and everything survived and is doing well.
About 3 days after I moved my orange spotted goby jumped into the back chamber of the tank and landed on the eggcrate rack and killed himself. So I'm done with gobies, thats the third one now. So my newest addition is a misbar clown. I also picked up a small orange ric finally. Here's the latest FTS.
