White bumbs on zoas

Several of my zoa colonies have these white bumps on the "stalks" of them. It is much bigger than a grain of sand. They seem to be not opening as much since I have noticed this. I was thinking of doing a dip but most are attached to huge LR that I can't remove. I didn't see anything up top of this section that I thought it was.
Nitrate is undetictable and same with phosphate. There are in various spots of my 120 reef. Any ideas? The pictures I tried to take would not show anything.

Yep it's Zoapox no question :( Well I have been reading a little bit (between acting like I'm working) and this could be a problem. It seems like the best thing is to dip it one way or another. I would have to rip my reef apart for this.
I also read that carbon can sometimes start this due to clearing the water up quickly. I did add some chemipure about a month ago but I already had clear water. Maybe I should take this out though?
Thanks for the replies guys!

I use Furan II as well.
I think I would stop and think "How well do I like my current zoas?" and "How well do I like my current aquascaping?"
Also stop and think how well of a QT you did on any current fish and if you have any that are prone to ich. Sometimes "tearing apart a reef" can stress out a fish enough for it to succumb to the parasite.

Meowzer posted a great link. I was going to post the same one but didn't want to get in trouble. Furan -2 is the way to go.

Well I don't have much of a choice there is no way in heck I'm tearing it apart lol. Most likely there would be more harm done than good. I'm actually kinda lucky the ones that are affected are not my favorite or high end ones.
I don't think furan is something I want to dose the whole tank with, that scares me.
Do you guys think I should take the chemipure out? Any other thoughts? I guess I will just let nature run it's course?

Even though I have QT'd all fish and never had a sign of ich (knocks on wood) I would really be disturbing the sand bed and stirring up everything trying to get these colonies out to dip so I would be really worried about spike.

*makes an "Oh-Nos" face*
The question I said I would ask myself "How well do I like my current zoas?"... that included the zoas in the whole tank. It can spread to all of them.
Can you get your favs out for a dip if they needed it?

Well I'm just gonna have to do what I can now that I know this. Some will come out easy but others will prolly get damaged. But I'm gonna order some of that stuff and try try try.

Cranberry- do you think this is kinda something that happens here or there when it's in the season? Or is there something that caused this? What I read didn't really answer my questions to how or why this happens.

correct me if im wrong.. nudibranch cause zoa pox. check for nudibranch bites on the stalks as well. im fairly new to zoa pox. i just lost a bunch of zos to it, but i think i gott it under control.
a cheap way to dip is with fresh water. i dip all my zoa frags for like 5 mins in fresh water and watch the pests come off. then inspect for the nudi eggs..
if you see them, take tweasers and attempt to peel off the whole sack fill with eggs.

I think there is still a lot of unknowns where zoapox is concerned. I honestly don't know, but haven't read up on it/had experience with it in over a year.
It's not caused by the nudis though. I've had zoapox without nudis and nudis without zoapox.

Thanks for your thoughts both of you! There is not alot of good info on it that I can find. About the best article I found was the one Meowzer posted. I'm gonna try doing some freshwater dips tommorrow until I get the furan in. Hopefully it will atleast keep it from spreading, I will update tommorrow. Thanks!

the fw dips are good to kill the nudis and any hitchhikers. let them sit in there for a couple of minutes, then give them a goos shake/ whirl and pull them out..
