You guys/girls generally do a good job of keeping things civilized on here. But lately I've seen some unusual decision-making.

No, you haven't. I am sorry that you feel that way. Perhaps it is just that too much went on before and you all got accustomed to it. I understand how it may appear that we are now cracking down. The same rules apply that always have. Insulting other members and being rude are just not allowed. You all know that. This thread should probably be closed now being that we have never allowed, "Why did my thread get deleted" posts to remain open. I am leaving it open, for now, because it is still civil and the questions are legitimate. Please let's not turn this into a Mod bashing thread or anything of the sort.

ALSO, there's got to be some validity to what was said in response to my original questions on the thread. From what I understand, it only got ugly toward the end. Why couldn't you leave the first part in?

I agree. I had to rewrite the post at the top of this thread a couple of times before posting it so it could be politically correct. But honestly mods, it really does upset me that you delete threads like that without any explanation. It makes you guys look like you're turning swf into more of a dictatorship... I honestly felt a little opressed by the mods when I couldn't find the thread.
Valuable people are leaving and have left the forums for this very reason - they feel like the mod power is being abused sometimes.
Can you explain to me your behavior? Why did you delete the thread without any explanation? Because you didn't think we'd need one? Do we not deserve an explanation? Or do I have to open ANOTHER thread (like this one) and do some digging every time I want to shed some light on things like this?
What's the deal?

Again I wasn't the one that deleted it. I will tell you that it is not easy going through post after post of the same people with the same childish behavior. We are not required to PM each person on a thread and explain why we have moderated it. That may seem unfair, and I can understand why, but that would take as much time as dealing with the issues that come up. I have told you why it was deleted. Posting threads repeatedly about a thread being locked or deleted will get you nowhere. It is unnecessary. You can always PM us if you have questions.

YearOfTheNick.....Give a rest dude. You know their job, they did it, and you are exploiting the repercussions. Don't post again...Let the thread die....

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with both of you here. To delete a thread because certain posts went outside the original topic and became inappropriate doesn't make any sense. It really doesn't matter what the original topic was about but Nick had something on his mind that he wanted to discuss. Whether it be a movie or a thread about ick, what does he do now? Is he being disrespectful to repeat the same thread?
I didn't see the bad parts of the thread... just saw the first couple of posts. There was nothing wrong with the topic. By deleting the entire thread you are saying to Nick that he cannot bring that discussion to this board. Again it makes no sense.

If you didn't delete it, then who did? and why isn't that mod on here discussing this issue? If you can tell me which mod, I will PM that person and bring my issues up with him personally. I'm all for that. The purpose of this thread was to get some answers and bring to the table what a number of people have been feeling about the mgmt here lately... both in agreement and disagreement with mods.

We're not asking for that. It would not be good to flood everyones PM inbox. I don't know about everyone else, but I really REALLY love MichaelTX's style of modding... when he sees something inappropriate, he marks that post, deleting the bad content and leaves a warning of some kind. That's what mods are supposed to do, correct? Not delete entire threads because it's just easier than going through a half dozen posts, correct?
This is an honest question. I really do want to know what mods are supposed to do, and the etiquette that is required of them. This way I can report them to SWF whenever they get out of line. There has to be some kind of honesty system in place here.

If I am the creator of the thread and have no idea what happened to it, Yes, a PM would be nice, but it's not something I would expect.

Crimzy, you would be shocked and appalled at the amount of stuff that you all never get to see on here because we get to it first. I don't think you would have the same oppinion if you did. The thread was deleted. He is more than welcome to start another thread discussing the movie.

Although in this situation a pm to yearofthenick would have been appropriate, it needed to be nuked.

That's not the point. The point is that I shouldn't have to create multiple threads about the same thing just because the one before it gets out of line.
From my understanding: You, the mods, are the supervisors. You are supposed to correct things that get out of line. It's that simple.
But how is removing a thread with both good and bad content an acceptable thing? Some threads get waaay out of line on here and they still remain open, although they do have some mod edits here and there. My thread had some good relevant content in it, answering the questions that I asked in a completely honest way. But I'm disappointed because I will never get to see what others honestly answered in response to my question.... and it was because a mod didn't want to do the job of keeping the childish people in line. Perhaps if I was talking about ich treatments, the relevant content would have made it worth cleaning up instead of throwing away.

I love how everyone thinks that they can moderate better than we can. I am not about to argue this with you any further. If the moderator that deleted the thread wishes to discuss it with you then that person will.

I deleted it.
I wasn't discussing it a 1 am because I was sleeping.

It was dozens of posts and yes, it would have taken a long time to edit each offending post and leave a note explaining why. Perhaps you should start directing your concern toward the people posting this childish stuff.
