I do... LOL

And yes I have lost zoa's and xenia to it. If it were a regular bta I would of gotten rid of it by now. But.. its a RBTA and I bought it for less than you can get a reg BTA for. So...I roll the dice.

I didn't know they weren't reef safe. We have yet to witness any casualties to our BTA or Condylactis!

Condy's are notorius fish eaters as well... I had one that took down 2 clown fish of mine.

That's very interesting! My condy is quite small right now though... but the fish seem smarter than to go near it, plus I'm sure they could wiggle away from it if they ever touched it. It's only slightly sticky to the touch.

Why? it's ok lol. They'll sting on sensitive parts of the body (like inner forearm, would leave nice welts there) but the skin on your fingers and palms is too thick to feel anything. It'll just feel really sticky.

One of the ways to tell if you have a healthy anemone or not is to make sure its tenticles are still sticky.
No, BTA's seem to be the more passive species and its not common to see them catch and eat a live fish. More likley to see a dying fish wander to close and they capitolize on the opportunity.

I too have an anemone in my reef tank. Although I haven't had any casualties yet, i have had to play musical chairs with some of my zoa / sun polyps, because the BTA was stretching WAY over and stinging them - one group did die, but they were sun polyps and they grow like weeds anyways.
It isn't recommended because they will stink and kill corals if they touch them, but to my knowledge they won't go out and 'hunt' or try to kill corals, they just kill them just by random contact.

My condy will stick to anything it touches - but my BTA just shrivels up whenever it comes in contact with something. Or it used to anyway - it's a little more adapted to its environment in the new tank now, but when it's something it doesn't recognise, it definitely retracts.

i have 3 RBTA and a condi in my 135 gallon, 1 of my RBTA is really close to the condi and the clowns will still go into it and the female got to close to the condy and it stuck to her forhead and she whipped around real fast and bit that tinticule off of the condy hahaha she had a white spot where it got her, but if she wasnt so big im sure it would have ate her, i have lost 2 cleaner shrimp and 1 chromis to the condi, havent lost anything except the tips of a hydnophora to the RBTAs
and yes my tank is a reef tank

Thats true. I remember When I was around 13 years old, I touched an anemone and all it felt like in the palm of my hands was a big sticky ball. No pain!!

I have a condi in my reef tank and I keep a very close eye on it-it seems sometimes as if it trying to sneak up on some of my LPS corals and I have relocated the condi a few times. I think I will have to find a new home for it, though I do wish that it would eat a damsel or two-I can't catch those buggers and they are just a big fat PITA.

Just wondering, is there any fish that will eat anemone's?

Ya, you always hear about the bad anemone that eats all the fish, how about a fish that has eaten your anemone? Anyone have any stories or experience with that?
