It WEAKENS the immune system, it doesn't reduce it. Is that a symptom? So you can go in the doctor and say, "I need help, my immune system is reduced. It is smaller than usual."
No, Aids itself is not a disease because it does not have its own set of characteristic conditions.
Susceptible. Learn to spell.
lowered white blood cell count, fevers from infections resulting from lowered counts, lesions on the skin ,jaundice

hey thanks expert!!! glad you are here to correct my spelling... that is typically the first sign that someone is wrong and all they can do is point out mistakes by another individual to belittle them...
youre arguing in circles and you have made my point many times... now go back to surfing the interweb to find sites that will say what you want it to so you can seem the wiser...

How have I proven your point. Your premise is that Aids is a disease and you supported it with a dictionary definition of disease. I proved AIDS to not fit that definition. How exactly does that prove your point.

Alright, medical stuff, now thats my language....
hiv is human immunodeficiency virus, a virus that causes aids. with the immune system destroyed in the process, a person develops opportunistic infections like kaposi sarcoma, pneumocystis pneumonia, tuberculosis, etc. etc. etc.
s/s of hiv are chills, fever, night sweats, dry productive cough, dyspnea, lethargy, confusion, stiff neck, seizures, headache, malaise, fatique, oral lesions, skin rashes, abd discomfort, diarrhea, wt. loss, edema. to name a few.

HEY LOOK!!! my first search and look what it says... happens to be wiki but i will take it...
"Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).[1][2][3]
This condition progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors." wikipedia

Hey, look wikipedia! Wow, what a great source. That is much much better than AIDS.org. NOT! Who cares what that says, anyone could have written that.
HIV is in fact a disease. We're talking about AIDS. What is your stand on that?

Well, I dont really have a stand on it.. But HIV is a retrovirus that causes aids.
Aids is acquired immunodeficiency syndrome caused by either hiv-1 or hiv-2.

Even though it is impossible to win an argument over the internet (proven fact), I still think I'm right.
No, I take that back, I know I'm right.

youre right lets go to AIDS.org...
WHAT DOES "AIDS" MEAN?
AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome:
Acquired means you can get infected with it;
Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body's system that fights diseases.
Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease.
http://www.aids.org/factSheets/101-What-is-AIDS.html
syn⋅drome  /ˈsɪndroʊm, -drəm/
n.
1. Pathology, Psychiatry. a group of symptoms that together are characteristic of a specific disorder, disease, or the like.

2. a group of related or coincident things, events, actions, etc.
3. the pattern of symptoms that characterize or indicate a particular social condition.
4. a predictable, characteristic pattern of behavior, action, etc., that tends to occur under certain circumstances: the retirement syndrome of endless golf and bridge games; the feast-or-famine syndrome of big business.
NUFF SAID...

Okay, HIV causes AIDS. However AIDS does not just pop up, it does not just happen over night. AIDS is a label that you use when someone's immune system is weakened to a point.
So you're in a plastic bubble and have HIV. You will eventually develop AIDS BUT it wouldn't matter because there would be no opportunistic infection to kill you. You would have no diseases etc.
Name a disease that comes from another disease 100% of the time and is not dependent on the outside world.

PEZ you brought this thread to crap. You are young and probably have very very little experience with the other ---. Dont say you do. Everybody at 16 thinks they do. I was 16 once. You have no idea. You can bring nothing to this thread except argue a stupid point. Dont take this personal but move along.
