Not true. After owning a shop/store that brought in a few wild clownfish over the years, and after breeding 5 different species, I dont find that the wild clowns host any quicker. In fact just the opposite.
Yes it is hit and miss with any species and the length of time before accepting a host can vary. And certain species of anemones are natural hosts for certain clowns, and others are not natural... There are many factors that can come into play, but Tank bred has very little influence either way. My main breeders are percs, and you wouldnt believe how often I hear " Hey the clowns that I got from you dove right into my anemone" I have seen it myself on 100s of occasions. . When a trio (2 clowns /anemone) would leave my shop, the clowns would often find the anemone in the bucket, before the bucket even made it out the front door, and often before I could even get a lid in the bucket.
