After about a month of having 15 lbs of live rock in 12g nano cube i started noticing A LOT of beautiful coloration changes in the rock along with some pretty cool looking green algae. As i was admiring the changes i saw something poke out of the rockwork. After observing for a while "it" came out about 3 inches reaching for food. I knew it must have been something that was living in the rocks so i picked up the rock from which it was living under to see what it was. Well, from what i can tell it looks just like the arm from either a brittle star or serpent star fish. I know it is possible to stars to regenerate arms, but is it possible for arms to regenerate bodies??? It is kind of grayish purple with a lot of hairlike things coming of it.

Well, I would have said bristleworm, but the grayish purple has me thrown. Bump to see what the others say.
Oh, and welcome to SWF.

Bristle worms are good...they are scavengers and a good addition for a clean up crew....Just DO NOT touch them....the bristles sting...from what I hear

Generally, bristleworms are good. They clean up your tank by eating leftover food, poop, and anything that dies. Not sure about the different colored one. Mine are white with red bristles. Maybe someone with more knowledge will come along.
Also, don't touch them. Those bristles sting and will stick in you like cactus thorns. Ouch!
lol Meowzer types faster than I do!
