I dunno about "experts"...never cared for that word. We do know a thing or two about SH too, considering that's how we met and we used to have several until recently.
IME, we've kept pairs in 20XT (18T) setups (basically two 10 gals on top of each other sizewise), but they require a LOT more attention in that size setup. We also run live macro in our setups, esp SH setups, which helps a lot.
Getting good, TRUE CB stock is first and foremost (go with a breeder or hobbyist breeder as your source) and keeping them at a proper temp (< 74*F for tropicals) are probably the two most important ingredients for success.
