I saw one of those electric scallops and it was like a neon sign. It flashed about every 1 second. I know this sounds silly, but it was the entire reason I started this hobby. I can't wait to watch them in the dark. Make sure you supplement calcium and do water changes with limewater!

Good luck! electric flame scallops can be difficut to keep alive in an aquarium and dont last long. you want to make sure there is plenty of calcium for its shell to grow, scallops filter feed so you will need to keep phytoplankton handy, I would recomend DT's live Phyto. I have two that I have had for 8 months now and they are doing good, you also need to make sure they have a nice dark place to hide where they wont be disturbed by tankmates, because if they are disturbed too much they will stay closed and will not feed. they also like cave like areas so they can extend their foot. its also pretty hard to get a nice photo with the "electric" showing on their mantel.

I had one for about 6 months or so. I was feeding copious amounts of phyto .. among anything else I could throw in there. You have to have a overfeeding 'problem' to keep them alive lol.
At some point I got busy with life and just stopped overfeeding as usual. The fleshy part on the scallop (the red area) started to dwindle and eventually it wasted away. A healthy specimen should have nice meaty 'mantle' or whatever the red is. I wouldnt ever buy one that looks open, or where there is space between the two.
here was mine before I started to neglect it.
Good Luck
