Will RO filter remove copper?

SO a week or two ago I posted that I cannot keep snails alive in my tank. I've followed the advice of others on here and properly increased the salt levels, as well as properly acclimating them to the tank. Still no love for me.
The SW expert at the LFS (granted I don't know this guy other than every person in the store telling me he is the best to talk to in the store) could only think of the possibility of copper being in the tank from my copper pipes and me using tap water to fill the tank. I put some Culpisorb in the filter a week ago and am now considering purchasing a RO filter.
My question is will an RO filter remove the copper from the water that I have in my house. I want a filter that will work but don't see the additional need for the DI part if I don't need it yet. I would also like to use this filter for drinking water if I'm gonna buy it and have heard RODI water isn't good for drinking becuase its too clean. NOt sure how that could be but if someone could shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

No coral, all I have is 2 damsels, 2 clowns and some (very small amount) rockwork. Its not LR. The substrate is sand and the tank is a 75 gallon size.

wether or not the copper from your pipes is the problem or not I can't say but I would bet that if it isn't yet it will become one. Tap water from copper pipes= TROUBLE. Not to mention the other contaminates you're likely to encounter. I would get a RO unit asap. I've read that about the DI water to but it doesn't taste funny to me... in fact it's quite tasteless...

Ro unit is a soon purchase at mnimum, but I want to make sure it will clean out the copper or will I need additional filtering such as with a RODI unit. THe RODI water for drinking wasn't really a taste issue, more of an issue that its so clean its missing some things your body needs. I'm no doctor or scientist so I'm unsure of how valid that is.

Did your LFS test for copper? There are test kits readily available.
Are all your snails from one store? If so, how do they acclimate and what is the specific gravity of their system? Sometimes osmotic damage is done to these animals before they reach your tank.

Snails were from multiple fish stores at multiple times. They didn't check for copper but that is what they suspect as being the culprit here.

Just make sure the RODI unit has a switch. Mine has one that when I make RODI for reef I turn the water to go through all filters, RO drinking doesn't have to go thru the DI.

It is easy enough to get a test done to see what levels, if any, you are dealing with.

I have copper pipes in my house also. I have a RODI and my water comming out has no copper. Or anything else for that matter. The Ph of my water before the ro is 8.3 after it is a 7.0 so it removes everything.

I think RODI is good to drink. Water is in its purest form is not harmful it just doesn't have any nutrients in it. So RODI water will still keep you hydrated but will provide no nutrients. But we get most of our nutrients from the foods we eat not the water we drink. I personally love the tastelessness of pure water.
