I've read and read, and still haven't found anything concrete. My previous personal opinion was that they are born with a determined şex (unlike say clownfish), they just didn't develop sexual dichromatism till around 5". There are a few threads by some knowledge people on R¢ that suggest in nature a female can turn male if the harem needs it. Usually it's the more dominant female, so if anything a larger female would be the one to change over
. My personal experience has only been with male/female Xhatch pairs, both stayed şex. So this will be an interesting documentation, if ours should turn into a goregous full male, I had no issues
. If you want I can PM you the links.
So I wonder if we parlay all that together, the running theory is that are going to be the gender they are, unless conditions demand otherwise. Is a single female Crosshatch in an aquarium enough to cause that (with a Lei trigger)?. I think that's the question.
About the size, I think like Blue Jaws, only around 5" they 'develop' their color. Yea, some probably develop their color younger or older then norm. However I'm not sure you saw flameangels88 thread over there, but he bought a DD BlueJaw pair, definite male/female, and the female had since changed over to male.
