I know how you feel. Indeed be glad you have a job, that will take the sting away some.
I work night shift and live in the suburbs of Chicago. When we have some useless meeting, it is always scheduled for the middle of the afternoon, in the city
So after working all night, I have to catch a train early in the morning to get to the mandatory meeting on time...then get home, sleep for maybe 2 hours and off to work all night again.
They pay me only for the time I'm in the meeting, not the 4 1/2 hour commute.
I work close to my home…meetings are just far away.
Just before I retire, I am going to get a copy of the company letterhead, fax a statement that there is a mandatory meeting at 2:00 AM at an address on the outskirts of the city, in the middle of nowheresville.
I am sure after a landslide of calls nobody will show, but the boss gets to deal with the city dwelling dayshift workers whining for a change. Maybe it will drive the point home to him how inconvenient his meetings are scheduled at for the 1000 workers not around the corner that works at night!
This is what I think of as I travel blurry eyed to my meetings once a month. I am 50 now, revenge is just around the corner
