hi guys, i am soo puzzled
last night i moved one of my snails as i thought he's sitting in same place for like a day and i saw small worms come out and dig themselves in gravel.
this morning i wake up to a dead clown on the bottom - other clown and chromis look ok
coincidence?
i am going to the pro store for water tests, etc.
but what is up with these worms - do i need to do anything or will they drop dead soon???

Worms are probably feeding on an already dead snail. The clown is probably just a coincidence.

It's possible that it's not just coincidence.
The same thing that killed the snail could have killed the Clownfish.

water seems fine except salinity is on the lower side - adding more salt water today
but these warms are freaking me out!!!!
do they die or multiply???

Low salinity can kill many types of snails but it's not going to harm a Clownfish.
The worms helped you out a LOT by eating that dead snail. Their population will be dependent on their food supply.

Seriously? Worms are a natural thing in saltwater aquariums???
I have never seen this as I was doing research!

What kind of worms are they? What did they look like?
In my animal biology class we learned about a HARMFUL (to humans too) that in it slife cycle it burrows in snails feeding off it and growing. Then it leaves the snail by ripping through its skin (killing it) and goes to the seond host, which is usually a fish (killing that also).
Probably not the same type of worm, but sounds like the same life cycle.

It's about 4-5cm long. Looks like it's velvet skin.
Ok, I did all water changes, got a new clown - he's dead in few days. Also another snail is dead - saw crab all over it.
Previous clown and chromis are alive and kicking.
Water is good - everything is good, all parameters.
I am sooooooooooooooooo confused.
