hey, tank is looking good. I dont think that is red bubble algae, it looks kinda similiar to the one I had but not quite, i dont see the bulbous bubbles on it. Same color though. Who knows, have you posted in the ID section?
Sorry your cerith snails didnt fare well, they are sensitive to new water conditions from what i hear. Your nass snails are cool, i like their little snorkles.
Not sure how often to feed your goby, hopefully someone on here can chime in or you may want to ask in the fish forum. good luck!

i was feeding mine once a day but due to algae issues and poor water quality from excess nutriets ive moved to feeding once every 1-2 days. He eats pods off the glass from time to time im not sure if he needs more than every 2 days but im pretty sure they will be fine thats what ive been told on a different forum

Wisk - Thanks for the compliments! Ya I've posted there they said is was some type of algea. I guess thats as good as I can get lol. It doesn't sound harmful so I'm going to assume that is is good for my tank (but you know what they say about assuming lol)
Freeboarder - Thats good to hear about the pods i have a ton in my tank! I think they came from the sand I bought at my lfs. That stuff was great. I'll just continue to feed him a few pellets (marine formula one) cause they seem to disapear in the mornings. Maybe he is just a late night snacker.

So yesterday I went to the lfs by my college and they had thier old tanks for sale for $5!!
And I picked up two, one is going to be for the desert tortoise my brother-in-law is going to give us. The other I'm planning on turning into an AIO (all in one I think), with a foam rock wall similar to one I saw on a different forum.
Its still a nano so you'll find that thread soon. But I don't know how many gallons. Does anyone know how to figure that out from the dimensions? I'll post those after school today too. Plus your guys' favorite: PICTURES!!!!

dude the dormroom tank with the rock wall? that build was so sick, i know exactly what youre talking about. I wish i made my tank AIO when i first got it, im considering trying to do it one of these days with just all my fish and rocks in a bucket. Let me know how it goes

Ya man definitely I'll be starting another thread when I start on the project.
Oh and the tanks are 24"x20"x12" and thanks to google I know its 25 gallons. I was too busy yesterday to take pics but I'll snap some today; promise.

Feed every other day, and vary the diet. You don't just want to feed pellets everyday. Try frozen mysis and maybe a little cyclopeeze. In your size tank you have to be very careful with feedings, because you could very easily end up with too much nutrients in the tank and have a huge algae bloom
which is not fun. JMO

thanks subie ya I think that schedule will be best for the tank. I'll have to get some mysis soon. Or would marine cuisine work too? Cause that has a bunch of stuff to vary his diet.
Also should I get some crabs in there too? Would I benefit from them at all? Or would they pick at my star polyps?

I don't like crabs, as they tend to knock things over and while they do clean a bit they don't do enough, IMO, to warrant putting them in. I would stick with a variety of snails. Nass and cerith for the sand. Turbos and astrea/trochus for the rock and glass.

Ya i've got two nass and two astrea. The astrea mainly hang out on the glass and the nass stay in the sand. I need some for the rocks now I guess. Would turbos clean rock or would they end up on the glass as well?
I had a bad experience with cerith but I'd be willing to try them again if convinced.
Oh and a goby update. He found a nice perch on the powerhead overlooking his domain lol. He has fattened up but is still that transparent charcoal color but seems happy otherwise.

Sorry about the quality, it looks like I need to clean my tank too. But you can see his dorsal spike fairly well:

Kinda better without the flash:

Here he is perched on the powerhead.

Rough work weekend so tank was kinda neglected. No worries though everyone is good, just no water change.
My goby still looks bad. Stomach is shrunken and pale. I'm going to get him some marine cuisine this week so hopefully he'll eat. I just don't get it, I feed him every other day and there are plenty of pods for him. Should I start worrying?

Dang feels like forever since this was updated.
Nothing new in the tank but I have seen the goby eat with my own eyes

I need more snails cause the sand is getting pretty dirty but since I have my other tank I'm setting up I'm kinda putting this one on the back burner as far as new inhabitants go.
But I will get a black ray goby and randall's pistol shrimp when that time comes.
