I figured I start this after seeing the other worst thing thread.
The worst thing I have heard lately is when I was walking back into the saltwater section where I work and overheard a customer explaining to another customer that "Anemones can be kept under any type of light but you need 'Special Lighting' if you want to have starfish".
Another bad thing I heard was from a customer I had just helped set up their 175g for saltwater and had explained the cycling process and told them it could take up to 2 months to cycle. They came in a week later mad that I wouldn't guarantee the fish they bought until we tested their water because i was sure their tank wasn't cycled. They claimed that their tank had cycled in a week because when they tested their water everything was in the "safe level". Come to find out their using a freshwater test kit that says up to .5ppm of ammonia and 5ppm of nitrite is in the "safe level".
