Would you pay $1500.00 for a Fish?

I would never spend that much for an Interruptus, especially when they'll be more common in the next 5-10 years. A company in Hawaii called Reef Culture Technologies has been breeding these fish and other Centropyge angels for several years now. It's only a matter of time before they become more common in the trade.

I assume the price is $150.00 (apparently my mind cannot accept the other zero)
So my question is would you pay 1500.00 for a fish?
Nope...not me....no way.....there are way too many other more reasonably priced options. So....NOPE!!

at that price you can fly to japan(where this fish is located), rent scuba gear, maybe stumbled across one, net it, fly it home, and have one heck of a time...just my two pennies...Matt

You betcha I would, if I had the money to throw around. However, I know of a web-site that has Captive-Bred Interruptus Angels for 650 bucks. And, YES...you CAN get Clarions. I know of another website where you can get full-grown adults for about 2,500. So, my answer is YES. BTW, the Clarion in my avatar is a juvenile. They are gorgeous, and someday, I will own one. WILL. NOT MIGHT, WILL.

more power to you...and best of luck with it when you get it....but for my money there are much more reasonable options that cost much less.

Thanks NM. Its certainly a few years away, being 13, I gotta save for a huge tank and THEN buy the livestock. I agree, there are other options that cost less, and I may consider those instead, but I've always wanted a Clarion, so we'll just have to see.

I have spent some crazy amounts for fish in my life, and if it came with a guarentee to live at least 60 days I probably would, but if not, I would be standing there everyday biting my nails too!!!

You know, i've seen foot long koi go for $1500. But that is for an imported 12in fish that people buy just to say that they have a thousand dollar fish. I just dont think that i could spend that much money on a fish that is so demanding, and could very easily die from the stress of acclimation.

....Though if i had $1500 to toss around with out thinking about it, i'd buy it in a heart beat!

The last expensive fish I bought (and it wasn't near 1500.00) I kept 2 days and the power went out because of an ice storm. This happens every 20 years or so because I live in the south. I put candles under tank and wrapped with down comforter. They were warm enough but on 41/2 days they died of oxygen deprivation (and of course the power came back about 4 hours later. With what I lost I could have bought a nice generator.
BUT....what really pis___d me off was when I remembered I had a battery pump for camping in the bedroom closet. You know air is air.

I know of two websites that sell them. One has full grown adults for 2,500ish and the other has juveniles-sub adults for about 3,500. I don't know why the prices are the way they are. I cannot give you the address, because it is against the rules, and so is emailing it to you. Do some MAJOR looking online, you'll find 'em.
