wouldnt it make sense for swf to just putup a post of what is going on already?maybe explain why it was changed and what the are doing to fix the bugs.seems they are in hiding while we just try to figure out their messy site.i go to some construction forums that have changed and the site builders keep us informed of whats going on.one site added some extremly annoying music we had to listen to while reading .we complained and they removed it.swf need to pay a bit more attention to us here or they will lose some of us.i have already seen alot less posts.i dont even want to think about trying to post a pic now.insert guy banging head against wall.

Sorry, but I'm not sure why this break-in period, learning curve, and being just a tad patient while the kinks get worked out is such a huge big deal? Topics are being made, and posts are being posted, the basics of what members do here continues. No one wants to see members leave just because SWF decided to spend a lot of money on a updated forum for its members and visitors, but I guess if its intolerable for you, then you have to do what you gotta do.
When all is fixed and done, I think it will work out fine...just like all the other past upgrades worked out in the end. If SWF did what members suggested, we'd still have the original forum from 10 years go because members have moaned and groaned through just about every forum upgrade we've ever had.
Please go to this topic and post any constructive issues or suggestions (not complaining) that will aid SWF in addressing things.

In a way I think all the bitching is a testament to how much the members care about this site. When all is said and done I am sure we will continue to have a great place to communicate with one another. But until all the bugs are worked out I fully understand the member’s frustration
FYI This is a copy of post number 2 (no pun intended) by yours truly
Bring back the old setup IMO

I understand what deejeff is saying. It would be nice for SWF.com to at least attempt to steer us in the right direction as far as what is going on. You know, this forum is a nice boost for their sales and lately it seems that we are being censored about our feelings in that respect. Now, we are being bogged down, ignored, and annoyed with the changes. Yeah, I know. I'm complaining. Seriously though, what's the big deal? It's healthy and it helps to express my point. If you don't want to read it, then hey! That's perfectly fine. This isn't rocket surgery.
Yeah, we're getting some nice little toys to play with on here, but in my opinion fixing the stickies is more important.
"Parasitic Worms" is a great thread that I believe belongs in the hitchhikers thread. I understand why Joe posted it in the New Hobbyists thread. I post things there for the same reason. Maybe we could get some stickies along the lines of skimmer thread, nitrogen cycle thread (*cough Spanko *cough), live rock thread, thread about water parameters, and maybe even a diatom/hair/cyanobacteria thread. They're out there. They are beautiful. They are just waiting for a mod to find, transfer, and pin to the top of the forums.
*Note that I could care less if you choose my threads or not. I just strongly believe that if someone has a problem and sees their issue in the blazing title at the top of the forum, they are more likely to read it and avoid asking unnecessary questions.
It's a good thing that I remember the codes for these emoticons
...maybe.

I think most people are not having this problem, but some are having it. I'm not a computer guru, but try some computer maintenance such as cleaning up cookies, deleting old files, defragging, etc, and see if that helps.

Actually, I just learned that if you do a quick reply and then edit the post, then go to advanced, you can access all the advanced features. Of course, that is just a temporary way around the problem.

as for this if it aint broke, what you and I see is a lot different than what htey have to deal with. Probably the biggest reason for upgrading systems is the security aspect of it...

I really hope that they fix the quick reply crap. I typed up several paragraphs for one of the threads on here and accidentally clicked "reply to thread" instead of "post quick reply." That resulted in me losing the post. Oh well, I'm not retyping it.

I just attached a file to a post. Holy moly what an improvement! I almost won't ever use photobucket again.

Threats of leaving because they are in the middle of an upgrade that they say they are working through? Really? Wow.

Yeah let's bash on their decisions. That sounds like a good plan to increase our numbers.
My young friend if you are talking about my post, my reference was to the actor on MASH who would disappear magically hence my reference to my good friend Randy s words "I'm gone"

I'd be happy not to have to scroll back and forth to read posts. Is anyone else having an issue with the open thread being too big to fit in the screen?
