one more try but this is stupid.arent these forums supposed to be user friendly?i go to plenty of my construction forums and dont have to re size pics and never have a problem.maybe i should get saltwaterfish.com their webmasters number?

well just tried where do you see quick post?i go to reply and a quick reply box comes up then hit go advanced and as i said earlier,the screen is two feet long blank and at the top reply to thread and that goes to the first page of the origional thread.what a bunch of idiots building this great new forum.well off to reef central.

OMG you are nuts....Did you not read where I posted I HAD TO DOWNLOAD FIREFOX TO GET THIS TO WORK
Give the people a break....they are trying to make the site better.....geesh......

omg where does it say since they started this i have to start to download anything to do anything?do you think a new member is going to know any of this?do you think a new member is going to stick around if they cant navigate this site with plenty of others out there?is everyone supposed to be a computer nerd to figure it out?do i need to download foxfire,adobe and what ever else out there to even use a computer anymore?i have no interest in learning to master a computer.all sites should be user friendly meaning if i need to do something it should be easily seen and done.i have yet to see anyone that is changing this site be helpfull its all been the forum user trying to figure it out and thats not right.i shouldnt have to start looking up every post on here to figure it out.
now i feel a bit better

Are they? Are they really?
I really don't understand why swf.com decided to change anything. They don't care. The search function has been down for several days. That alone cuts the worth of this site in half.

Oh come on....Do you know how many people use firefox......I didn't, and really didn't want to, but instead of creating a freakin scen I just took the 2 lousy minutes to download it, and now I can do what I want HAHA
I bet more people us it than you think...and I am not a computer nerd...just a finance person
And why would you have to look up EVERY post....I do believe I have stated this after your FIRST question on the subject

meowser ,i have never even heard of foxfire untill you wrote it.all i am saying is untill you posted it how are we supposed to know?how did you find out?on my other sites which all of them over the years have upgraded they have always kept us informed of what we needed to do.it i just not happening here.and it is upsetting alot of the regular posters here.
i did just download foxfire but i think i might wait till tomarrow to try anything.just dont have it in me right now.
now that i think about it the other sites have always sent an email to me when changes were coming.there is no excuse for saltwaterfish.com to just sit back and let the anger build here.

Sorry you feel that way.....swf did post a title telling us that they were going to be doing an upgrade.....I found out about Firefox from here actually....and after the last upgrade, I could not use a feature with IE, and I tried Firefox at work, and it worked....so when these other things did not work for me after the 2nd upgrade....I downloaded firefox at home, and again, they then worked....IDK WHY...The features work with IE for some....just not me....I do not think this was planned by SWF...I am just willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and work thru it.
that's all I am saying....
Just stay calm, and read ALL the responses....IMO if you had read the very 1st one (mine) you would have tried teh firefox and been good to go.....

Overall security for the site has a lot to do with needing to upgrade. The same way Windows 95 no longer offers security, neither do older versions of forums.
The search feature is also being looked at.

The thing is nothing, other then the old posts, has been lost with this upgrade. As far as I'm concerned it actually very intuitive to use with room for growth in the future, the social groups, calendar, articles, etc. As for the old threads, I posted a decent work-around in the stickied threaded in Ask SWF, that should be able to find whatever thread you're looking for.
If you are having issues, check your machine. Make sure your Windows is currently updated, all your drivers, more so the video drivers are current, and your browser is the latest version. As noted throughout this thread, not everyone is having a problem. I am definitely not sure what the aversion to technology is all about. If you're having serious issues getting a forum to work, I would really suggest taking some computer classes at the community college. The world around you is only going to get more involved with the computer.

AQUA, you seem to be pretty computer literate.....do you have any idea why it would work for some in IE8 and not others?

Could be the same reason we talked about with the cookies with Firefox, they may need to be cleaned out on IE8. That might help. Some people might have the Compatibility View button on/off (the broken page button next to the url address box). Turning that on/off might help. Personal settings might effect it too.

I could look at it for 3 days straight, that wouldn't really help though would it?

lol...Beats me....I clean my cookies all the time...haha...that sounds funny....Maybe I'll try some stuff tomorrow at work

well downloaded foxfire,nothig changed.clicked on reply,then the quick reply lowered ,clicked on go advanced and thesame two foot empty long page came up.made no difference.i have to get to work but iwill clean out the cookies and can upgrade my computer to th windows 8 .maybe that wil work if not .i give up.
