I went down to the local Agway to pick up a bag of Southdown, and they told me they didn’t carry it any more they now have Yardright.
The Yardright sand did not say tropical play sand, just Yardright Select White Play Sand, looked the same and cost the same but I don’t think it the same. I checked the back of the bag when I got home and it said it may contain small amounts of silicates.
I tried the vinegar test and it really didn’t do anything, should it really fizz or just make some bubbles, because when I tried using white vinegar it didn’t seem to do anything.
So has Yardright changed the formula or added a new product, there web site doesn’t have just plane white play sand just Tropical, I assumed it was the same, but I guess not.
Any one in CT / MA see any of the Tropical Stuff? Didn’t see any in the Lowes or Home Depots.

Take a sample of your sand and test some of the sand with vinegar. If it bubbles/dissolves, it is calcium carbonate sand and should be safe to use.

All the places I called around here that carries it, told me its not going to be in until end of March or at the earliest end of February.
I found a 15lb bag of Carib-Sea that was only $15 , that will be enough to get my fuge going.
Then in the spring time I'll stock up on the cheep stuff.
Thanks

How long does it take to dissolve?
