Yellow False Perc?

Hi all, I bought my first couple of fish two weeks ago. Among them was a pair of False percs. I purposely picked out a larger one and a smaller one in hopes of getting a mated pair. While looking at the little one in the bag, I noticed he was kind of yellow. The LFS told me that all saltwater fish change color when stressed so not to worry. Flash forward two weeks in my tank and he's still yellow. Now I really don't mind the fact that he's yellow and his colors are a little more vibrant now than they were but would this be some kind of disease that I don't know of or is this normal for young percs? A birth defect?
I feed frozen Formula one and two, as well as some frozen plankton as a treat. All are soaked in garlic before feeding. He eats well so I'm not panicked, but I'd like to know exactly why he's yellow. Thanks. Gonna try to upload a pic but since it's my first time I'm not sure if it'll work.

It could be a symptom of being mal-nourished when young. It might also be temporary. Try to get ahold of some Cyclop-eeze and see if that helps.

Awww poor little guy. Thanks for the advice Bang Guy! Will go get some Liquid Life Marine Plankton today and post pics once he starts to improve.
Would you also suggest using something like Selcon or Zoecon? I had some fish liver oil from Costco and emptied a capsule into my tank but it really stank the place up. I had to do some maintenance right after and couldn't wash the smell off my hands for two days.

Who advised you to add oil to your tank? You're quite fortunate that it didn't cause a crash.
Fish do not absorb nutrients from the water column, they must eat their food. The oil is fine, but you need to soak the food in it and rinse off the excess oil.

Whoops. I read a thread on this board about stuff you can get from your supermarket to use in your tank. The oil mostly stayed on the surface and was pulled out by my skimmer thankfully. Won't be doing that again if there's a risk of crashing the tank. Thanks again

Don't have much experience with pellets. I feed mostly frozen food with some flake as a snack now and then. The frozen food soaks up the garlic really well.
I like to think my fish enjoy the variety in food I provide so it'd be my advice to feed more than just the pellets. In my fridge I've got Formula One (carnivore mix), Formula Two (herbivore mix), VHP (High Protein mix), Mysis Shrimp, Cyclopeeze and Oceanplankton. I got the variety due to the different needs of my various fish, but the clowns eat all of it anyway.
Like can you imagine eating only power bars for the rest of your life? Yikes. Sure you'll survive but who'd wanna live like that?
