i posted this in another thread, but i was wondering.....
how big of a tank do you need for a yellow tang? or any tang really...?

I personally wouldn't add any tang to a tank that was less than 6 ft. long and at least 125g, with certain species requiring even more space. Some say that kole and yellow tangs do OK in a 4 ft. tank. There are many differing opinions on this issue. In my experience, it is only a matter of time before a tang in a small tank starts to suffer from some sort of confinement stress (namely poor health or aggression).

i have a yellow tang in an 80 gallon, i would not put him in anything less. even though he is only double the size of a half dolar coin he will get bigger eventually.

Again, just an opinion based on experience.
4' is OK for a Yellow but the odds of it living a long life improve dramatically with a 6' tank and an 8' tank+ is ideal.
