Yellowhead Jawfish behavior..

How do these guys normally act? Mine isn't digging any holes or burrowing at all! It sits in one of my corals and occasionally shifts sand by putting in its mouth and passing through it's gills. The fish ins't trying to make a nest or burrow or anything like that...
Heh...I hope he starts...that's the whole reason I got him.

I don't believe you have a Jawfish. Sounds more like some type of Gobie to me. Sorry. Perhaps a Watchman.

well...seems like a return to me!
Too bad...they don't have any true jawfish then unfortunally.
Maybe I'll try buying online for once...

I'm going to wait a while then and buy a pair of gold stripe maroon clowns as well as an anemone, TRUE jawfish ;), and panther grouper then.
I will just get $30 worth of liverock from my lfs in trade...

If they don't have Jawfish you may want to consider a Watchman Diamond Gobie Here are some pics of my guy. He is very efficient at keeping my sand clean!

they pick up sand in their mouths and dump it out their gills. they dont burrow, i dont think. My friends got one and he stirs up the sand quite a bit, lots of clouding. I wouldnt have one. ;) JMO

I didn't see the picture of the actual fish that you have...but my Yellow Headed Sleper Gobie is mostr deffinately a burrower. I fact, when it is time to close up his burrow, he'll pick up anything...including hermit crabs:)
Here is a picture of my Gobbie (Toby). I'm sorry for the quality of the photo, he is probibly the most difficult of my fish to photograph, he is always busy.
