Most of them have ich. The only two fish that I would proactively treat for ich regardless of initial appearence would be the puffer and tang. They are magnets. Valentini started my year long war with ich...still not totally convinced it is gone either. Paranoid I suppose

I paid $59 for a blue hippo. Kind of expensive, but the store quarantines all fish in a back room and I have never seen a sick fish in the store. Prices are a little higher, but worth it. I also paid $60 for a flame hawk that committed suicide after about two months.

I was afraid to look on this thread and see what some of you guys are paying out there but it turns out I spent the most so far. $150 for a medium adult size emperor that my lunar killed within 4 days.

90.00 powder blue tang.. in a scuff with my yellow tang he got a scratch on some live rock.. infected and dead within 2 weeks.
If a person can afford their fish and don't buy them instead of feeding their hungry family thats what life is for --- enjoying what you can afford however the heck you want :D

Expensive fish or no expensive fish...doesnt matter.
I have spent waaaay more than I like to express to anyone...let alone my wife

I have a clarion, a couple of bandit angels, and a host of other large angels that are priceless to me.
So their cost is relative to the joy they bring me...
Lets just say I could have had a nice down payment on a car for some of the fish :)

Bought a pair of black and white clowns for $199. They were hard to find at the time. They died within a year after introducing a stupid powder blue tang. I was pissed and it was depressing! PBT's ich killed majority of my fish and I'll never get one again. Then got a new pair of b&w clowns for 89.99....now knowing I got ripped off for buying the first pair I had.

Black and whites for that price? I use to get them in all of the time. They were like $40 each retail. Very nice looking. I had a little store too. Big guys get better deals on fish.
Ich killed your other fish, not the PBT.

My Sargassum Trigger was $100+, I forgot the exact amount. Something like $110 or $120. He's a great fish though, worth every penny.
Now if you include fish I no longer have, I spent $300 for a Golden Puffer. But he was too agressive and had to sell him.
