Well, the State legislation makes the laws that the courts interpret and enforce. I wouldn't say they are unrelated.

True. however it wasn't legislation that was passed to address this directly. It was a ruling by a judge....on an unusual case. The court had to present their case to a judge before the order could come down. The judge erred on the side of caution....I am sure appeals will overturn the ruling and set precedints however.

I hope so. I think the judge stepped over the line. To your point, this isn't a state/federal issue, it's a judge issue.

It was the State Attorney who sought out the judge to get the order:
State Attorney Willie Meggs stands by his decision to seek the court order after being contacted by the hospital. "This is good people trying to do things in a right fashion to save lives," he said, "whether some people want them saved or not."

I missed that completely, thanks for pointing it out. That sets a terrible precedent. I can't say I blame the Doctor for pursuing it but Meggs and the judge were both out of line IMO. I hope this is pursued and the judge is admonished for it.

Exactly!
It is amazing how ignorant most people are about those elected to be judges. We had one in Montana who actually turned out to be pretty good but she had zero legal experience and had been a career hopper before running. Like I said she turned out to be pretty good but she had been a research biologist and left that to do something else for a while then decided she wanted to be a judge. She was able to get the backing of the right people and ran a good campaign but damn, not a person I was going to take a chance on.

I missed this as well...still doesn't make it a state issue...unless someone in the state legislature is backing this play...It is still a court issue as I said. Now if there are politicians involved in this then my thought process will change.
