    maroon clown fish

All clowns start out as adolescents. The largest will become a female, and the next largest a male. Maroons will most likely kill all others outside of the pair. The recommendation for pairing is to get a second clown that is much smaller than the first, and they might eventually form a pair...

More than two clown fish in the same aquarium?

I keep 3 ocellaris together with no problems. I understand this may change if they start to breed, or it may not. I believe ocellaris are the only ones you can keep 3 or more together (perhaps percula too, but I am not positive). Keeping 3 or more may delay pairing up for breeding too...

    90 Gallon with clowns????

While most clowns will not accept a third, ocellaris may or may not accept a third. The new addition will take a beating at first. But if it is a female, as stated, it willnot be accepted.

    Anemone In A Nano

I think the lighting is probably good enough. As stated, the tank is only 12 inches deep. The pcs will penetrate deep enough. MH might be too much.

    Tang harrasing my tusk...help!

Use Photoshop to construct a picture of the tusk eating the tang, then post that on the side of the tang. Or make a picture of you clubbing the tang over the head. That should scare him.

    Moorish Idol... Getting one.

In this person's defense, this lfs won't be buying anymore idols. As he stated in the first post, the store is going out of business. But the point is made that if you don't buy the fish, stores will stop selling them. On the other hand, how do we learn about this fish and its needs if...

    Does sizereally matter??

I seem to recall reading in more than one place that with tangs, very small or large fish are not quite as hardy in regards to shipping stress. It is usually better to get tangs at around 1-3" or so. That being said, I prefer smaller fish to larger ones, so I can watch them grow. Those...

    Red scooter blenny!!

FYI scooter blennies are not blennies at all, but are dragonets, just like mandarins. Their care requirements are more or less the same for mandarins. But I have the impression that it is easier to get them to take frozen mysis.

    Maxima Clam - HELP!

For my two cents: Some clams like derasa are sand dwellers. Crocea and maxima are rock dwellers. I hear most people recommend placing clams on a flat rock, even if you are placing them in the sand. You can then bury the rock. As stated above, they will attach to the rock. Also make sure...

    Exposing sponges to air

Corals and sponges are two different animals. Most sponges (but not all) will die when exposed to air. No it is not an instant death. It may take a month or two. It will take several weeks in the least. It may look fine but it may be dying from the inside. If you cut off a piece you...
