    Urgent! 45g Reef SE Michigan

I ended up selling most everything as a package deal, so thanks for all the inquiries, but everything that's worth anything is gone. I'll try to email everyone who's emailed me personally, but if I don't, I apologize and thank you for offers! Sam

    Urgent! 45g Reef SE Michigan

Sorry, lights are also part of the "think they're sold, but they're still here and I don't have the money yet". It's looking like the sale isn't going to work out, so I was thinking of the whole package (lights/tank/stand/canopy/overflow) for $350. If you're interested, I'd prefer a pick-up...

    Urgent! 45g Reef SE Michigan

UPDATE: All the live stuff is gone, thanks for asking. The tank, hang-on overflow and stand have an interested buyer, but I haven't actually sold them yet. If it falls through, I'll post it. I'd be willing to ship anything - just send me an email and we can talk about it. The test kits are all...

    Urgent! 45g Reef SE Michigan

I have a 45g tall reef tank, but have been increasingly unable to put the required time into it as I am a grad student in biochem. Today, I had a plumbing mishap that would have flooded my house had I not been here, and I've decided that this was a sign that I should get out of the hobby until...

Torch Frag for trade in SE Michigan

Hey everyone I will be fragging my torch coral soon to alleviate some overcrowding, and was wondering if anyone in the Ann Arbor/metro Detroit area was interested in a trade. I haven't fragged it yet, but it will be 4-6 heads of a very healthy, growing torch. I'll be adding a pic soon. I would...

    Pipe Organ Coral

I would say they are mildly difficult to care for. They are very brittle and easy to damage physically, and for me, it's the only coral I've had that didn't do well in my current set-up. By that measure, I suppose, it's more difficult than the typical lps stuff I have (torch, frogspawn...

What's a good reef safe sand cleaner?

Nassarius snails are great, and a fighting conch would be a good choice bearing in mind that it will grow to be too large for your tank over time (just sell it back to Lfs, probably for more than you paid for it and get another). Conchs and cool and fun to watch as well.

    Suicidal fighting conch

I think conchs just like to get into danger. My old conch used to jam himself into crevices and I would have to take apart my rockwork just to extricate him, and he would promptly do it again a few days later. I often wondered how he could possibly have survived in nature... As to your actual...

    SPS advice

Hey everyone I am interested in branching out into trying some easy SPS corals, but what I want to know is whether or not it is worth it. Tank: 45 gallon (~ 36" x 24" x 16") Lights: 4x95w VHO (=380 watts) I've had very good luck with softies and lps (leathers, ricordia, torch, frogspawn, etc)...

Lesions on side of Coral beauty

Hi everyone My coral beauty had developed some white lesions on one side of its body, and I was wondering what I ought to do about it. His history includes an ick problem that had subsided about a week ago - is this just the progression of the ick, or something different? I wanted to get him...

    Seaclone or Prism?

I have a Prizm. It's OK, just don't listen to the size rating it claims. I think mine claimed to be good up to 90 gallons! It pulls out lots of stuff, and my nitrogen cycle is a triple 0. My refugium has something to do with that as well, I'd guess. Without a large bioload, the Prizm should...

Hope for missing conchs out there...

That's always a possibility, but I think I would have noticed. I frequently take a peek with a flashlight at night, and he left an enormous hole in the sand. Hopefully he won't hibernate again, because I really enjoy watching him roam around, and he's one of favorite inhabitants. I was really...

    Coral I.d.

I don't believe feather dusters require lighting, so don't take their survival as an indication you could get more corals. As a beginner to corals, it's best to do things the way most people have had success - PC/VHO or MH. I think it's a bad idea to try to push the envelope when success at the...

    LightZ!

    I'd guess that's a negatory, good buddy.
