Wow this message board has gone down hill since I first joined. There is hardly anyone ever on anymore. It's a shame there was always a wealth of knowledge floating around on here.
I have it in the first chamber were the DT overflow drains too so there is no sand in that chamber. I think It go into the skimmer when I added the last load of sand. I wasn't sure if it would hurt the skimmer or decrease it's performance though.
So I live in Hawaii and the temperature is on average 80 degrees all year round. Not bad for the body but hard on the tank. :( My tank gets up to 87-88 degrees around noon and stays there till almost 6pm everyday. I have two fans blowing on the tank and opened the back of the stand to allow...
I ended up with the Reef Octopus and absolutely LOVE it! It's still a new tank so it's not pulling out any dark thick skimmate, and it is a little big but it's in a 80g sump with plenty of room. I would highly recommend this skimmer.
Quick question though. There is a small amount of sand...
So I took your approach mandy111 and that made it so much easier. In hind sight I was thinking about the baffles spacing. I have a 1900GPH return pump and was wondering if theres a formula for determining the spacing gap between each the air trap baffles to not restrict water flow. I currenty...
Just wondering what some of you guys have used as a jig to make sure your baffles are installed square. I have all my baffles cut and ready to be siliconed in but and having a hard time getting them to stay squared up before I silicone them in.
Any help would be nice.
Vince.
Not sure about a top off unit yet Snake. I'm sure eventually I will add one though. Also I am drilling the sump for a 1" bulkhead that will supply the return pump and I'm not sure if the Pan World pump can draw suction to all me to put the return chamber in the center of the sump, and my stand...
Duane C here is a link to the my thread which has a picture of my prospective sump design.

The 10" peice that is the front wall of the Fuge will be 10" long but will still only rise 8" from the bottom of the tank. After looking at the drawing it might be a little misleading.
Thanks again
Vince.
Hey guys, I'm going to start building my sump/refuge out of a spare 55g I have this weekend and drew up a quick sketch on Paint to see if anyone has any tweek n peek ideas or suggestions before I start cutting and wasting material. It's in Paint so bare with me.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Yeah I've never noticed turbos in any of my tanks reproduce before. It would be awesome though since everything in the 20L is being shifted to a 125g in a few weeks. Lol
I have a 20L and have
x20 Astrea Snails
x7 Turbo Snails
x20 Hermit crabs
x10 Nassarius Snails
x1 Emerald crab
I have always been told its a good rule of thumb to go with 1 snail/hermit per gallon. Thats just for your Astrea and Hermits though. Deep sand beds or alot of sand surface to...
Honu im out in hawaii too. I was wondering if you noticed an improvement with growth and color in your coral since you added your Kessil? Are you just running 1 pendant over your 93?
So far it's,
Reef Octopus : 2
AquaC : 0
ASM : 0
When you talk about the break in period of the RO being roughly 4 weeks. are you saying I shouldn't put it on my system until I have ran the skimmer for roughly 4 weeks since it will be ineffective? Or will I just have to adjust and fine...
So I'm trying to put together my order for my 100g mixed reef and can't decide on which skimmer is best. I've narrowed it down to these three but have never had one so I'm looking for a couple reviews on what you guys think.
First : Reef Octopus classic 200INT ran with a mag 5.
Second : Aquac...
