    My Brain is deflated.

So this morning when I turned the lights on my Wellso Brain coral looked kind of strange. I guess the best way to describe it is that it looked kind of deflated. I fed it and the tentacles came out to eat the food so I wasn't too worried. Now that its night time and I've had the lights off for a...

Just got this over the weekend... I read somewhere that Elegance Coral prefer to be on the sand, so its now moved there and seems to be doing great. Its definately the "glowiest" coral I have.

    new coral time

Hmm... both would look good in your tank actually lol! I could see a bunch of bright red Acan frags spread all through your tank's vegetation and they'll look like berrys in a bush. I also think a good sized Birdsnest would look great somewhere in the space at the upper left of your tank. I...

Wow, great pic everyone! I didn't realize Harlequin Shrimp stay together as a mated pair... if it weren't for the fact they eat only starfish, I'd totally get one or two.

    Reef tank cleaners combination question

Hi there! I also have a 40 gallon tank, so I'll just list here what I have for CuC because I'm happy with what they do. 1 big Turbo Snail (for the rocks and glass) 6 Trochus Snails (for rocks and glass) 5 Astrea Snails (for rocks and glass) 8 Nassarius Snails (sand sifter) 9 Hermit Crabs (just...

New to hobby, need advice for single fish 75 gallon.

Hi! For you 75 gallon tank, IMO if you are going to keep only one thing in the tank, it should be really special. Sure a Lionfish is cool and all, but if like you say money isn't an issue, I would try to aquire something particularly exotic or rare. Maybe some type of Scorpionfish? You'll...

Would these corals be your first corals or are you looking to add to your existing reef?

    Show off your new stuff!

Hey everybody! Since this section of the forum is as close to a "general discussion" section we have, I would like to start a thread where everybody can post a pic of their latest and greatest buy. Whether its a cool new fish, coral, invert, or aquarium upgrade, show it off here and inspire...

    How fast do Acans grow?

I'm just curious because last week I bought a frag that consisted of 2 heads and a 3rd head beginning to show. Now, the 3rd head is fully formed (with some tentacles showing) and a 4th head has appeared (which looks how the 3rd head was a week ago). I feel like that at this rate my little frag...

Any LPS or soft coral reccomendations for a shaded area?

I've had mine for just over a month now. When I got it, it had 2 heads. Now a new head has sprouted on the rim of the lower head and two more are beginning to appear on the rim of the upper head. I'm not sure if that has to do with the lighting conditions but going from 2 heads to 5 heads in...

    The reason why xenia pulse.

I've read somewhere that scientists haven't really discovered the exact reasons why Xenias pulse yet and all the ideas floating around are still just theories/educated guesses. I got two colonies placed together so that they look like 1 big colony in the upper middle area of my tank (where I...

Any LPS or soft coral reccomendations for a shaded area?

I agree with 1GuyDude on the Duncan... I got one and it likes to be on the bottom and not in direct light. Currently have mine right at a cave entrance.

Sixline Wrasse vs. Red Fairy Wrasse

I talked to my usual LFS (not the one I got the Fairy Wrasse from) about this last week. They said that as long as the Fairy Wrasse eats when I feed the tank it will eventually work up the courage/strength to get out of hiding and stand up to the Sixline... well I'm happy to say that a week has...

I bought this without asking what it is.... so what is it?

Lol you guys might both be right... I just had a nice little chat with the store I bought the coral from. They told me that the way you tell the difference between a Trachyphyllia and a Wellsophyllia is the shape of the skeleton on the bottom. Since the skeleton underneath is flat, it most...
