Some kind of algae (I think)... looking for a way to remove it.

Hello all! So I've had this... algae... in my tank for some time now... its only appeared on the rocks, never the glass or sand, and its got a grayish brown color... its very tiny (maybe a couple of millimeters at most). I originally thought it was dust that settled on the rocks after being...

    Show off your new stuff!

Hey everybody! Thought I'd show off my new starfish that I just acclimated into my tank a few minutes ago. I intended to get only one, but the red bali at the LFS was a lot more expensive than usual... and yet they had these two for $20 lol. Gotta say... the brown one is fast! He was up on that...

On my last nerve with my acan and duncan.

I have 2 corals (a duncan and an acan) that for the life of me just won't open no matter how how perfectly balanced the water parameters may are and tank placement doesn't seem to help them either. Its been over 3 weeks now and despite my chemical testing and weekly water changes, everything...

    tanked the tv show. cycling?

I've always suspected that either they used pre-cycled water or that the cycling process is edited out for TV, but I also think I heard somewhere that these guys have invented a product that allows them to skip or dramatically shorten the cycling process and that this product will be released to...

    Yellow Tang eating habits.

So my understanding of Yellow Tangs is that they are herbivores and the feeding advise I was given was to use seaweed attached to clips and romaine lettuce rubberbanded to something (I use a large sea shell). However, my Yellow Tang doesn't seem interested in these at all and really just likes...

    Turbos dying

I wouldn't worry too much. I've read/heard from several sources that Turbos could die for really no reason. I started out with 4 last May and 3 of them have died within a couple of weeks of eachother out of the blue and so far those 3 Turbos are the only thing in my tank that has died (except...

    Acan in trouble.

Hmm well I can't seem to keep other tank critters from playing with this frag... no matter where I put it I find it flipped over somewhere else... its pretty beat up now but atleast a few feeding tentacles come out during feeding time. I tried epoxying it but it keeps getting pulled off even...

    Acan in trouble.

So I've had this little Acan frag for a few weeks now and in the beginning it was doing great (all puffed up and what not) but lately something has been flipping it over (I suspect my Emperal Crab) and for the last couple of days its been completely closed up. I've epoxied its base so hopefully...

Hmm... should I take this "fishy" job or not?

Thanks for the input everybody! I took the programming job for now since I was already hired on for it. It was a friend who hooked me up with the job and I don't want to make him look bad in front of his bosses by quitting so soon, but I'm still in touch with they guys from the fish call center...

Hmm... should I take this "fishy" job or not?

Oh and BTDLreef, I'm not 100% sure how much people would be calling me wanting product... my "clients" will be LFSs that I'm pretty sure I would need to convince to order livestock from me... not sure how much different that would be compared your days in the wine business... well I suppose once...

Hmm... should I take this "fishy" job or not?

Hey all, I'm kind of at a crossroads... I was just hired to a new job in my field, but I was also offered a job today doing phone sales for the fish distributor featured on the show "Tanked!" I don't know if I should mention the place by name here, but when the guys on the show say they are...

    My Brain is deflated.

1GuyDude I get my saltwater from the store. I live in a fairly crowded house and keeping a big bucket of water and salt mixing for 24 hours is not feasable where I live atm. I usually only dose the tank once every few weeks or when the calcium reads a little low for my liking... it just so...

    My Brain is deflated.

Hmm... well I did do a water change a couple of days ago, followed by some B-Ionic Calcium/Alkalinity buffer. Would it be possible that the WC caused the Alk to go down and then the buffer caused it to go up and that is annoying to the Brain coral? I have a feeling that the feeding is more...
