Haha well my wife did spot a really great looking Australian neon green Hammer Coral that she liked over the weekend... then she asked me if for Christmas if it would be ok if instead of buying me gifts would I be happy if she just took me to the store and treat me to a coral shopping spree. I...

    Acan drying up?

My acan was closed up until.I starting dosing my tank with magnesiumonce every few days. Now its very happy. Try and see if magnesium helps. Also, you say that in the course of a few days the skeleton is already exposed? That sounds a little drastic. Are you sure there is nothing in that tank...

Just curious. How long must something survive in your tank before you consider yourself successfulin keeping it?

In my case, my tank is 7 months old. It contains 9 different fish, 12 differeny corals, about a dozen of different snails and hermit crabs, a couple of shrimps, a crab, 2 starfish and a sea.urchin. No fish deaths yet. Not sicknesses yet. Corals are all happy and thriving. I test the water every...

Duncan coral help needed (UPDATE possible emergency!!!)

Actually now my duncan is doing pretty well. Its been quite a while sonce it was closed, and that only because my hand bumped it while I was moving around some rock. In fact, it even went from a 2 head frag to a 5 head frag over the last few weeks! :-D I think the trick was magnesium. Ever...

Just curious. How long must something survive in your tank before you consider yourself successfulin keeping it?

Title says it all. According to some conversations Ive had with people, the lifespan of pretty much all creatures in an aquarium is very upredictable. So how long is it when you decide for yourself youve had success with something? Few examples... Snails. Almost every snail Ive had has kicked...

frogspawn needs a friend. Got any suggestions?

Haha because to the right of the frogspawn is a big flat topped section of rock that is just begging to be the base of a sweet new coral ;-)

frogspawn needs a friend. Got any suggestions?

Hmm strange. I must have the worlds friendliest frogspawn. Ive had other corals near it before and its never been a problem. Ive even had an sps next to it for a few weeks and the ony reason I moved it was because I felt the sps wasnt getting enough light. Even now froggy has been sitting...

Should starfish hanging out at the top of the tank be a concern?

Hey so yesterday I got some frozen krill. I thawed a piece, cut it in half, and gave each piece to a starfish by sliding it underneathit. After a few minutes the starfish walked off the pieces, seemingly uninterested. Any suggestions to get them to eat?

Haha there is an LFS near my work that had a blue ringed octopus for sale for like $40... I was staring at it and when it moved I got startled and jumped back like when Burke got too close to the Facehugger in Aliens lol.

Should starfish hanging out at the top of the tank be a concern?

So I should probably stop by the supermarket and get a few pieces or raw fish meat or raw shrimp for them?

Should starfish hanging out at the top of the tank be a concern?

Here's a pic of them from a month ago shortly adding them to the tank... I was told I could target feed them by using my turkey baster to squirt some brine or mysis under them... I've also hear that its possible that they filter feed but I don't know for sure. I haven't tried giving them...

Should starfish hanging out at the top of the tank be a concern?

Title says it all. I've had 2 starfish in my tank for about a month now and they both seem to be doing well. They wander the tank and seem pretty active for starfish but sometimes they like to hang out at the top of the tank with one arm touching the surface of the water. They could be there for...

Some kind of algae (I think)... looking for a way to remove it.

I don't think its diatoms... they usually appear as brown splotches on the rock and then go away after a couple of weeks... these are little brownish patches of fur. I'm guessing its more likely cyano like you say 1GuyDude. Assuming its cyano, should I just leave it be are get get rid of it? If...

Took a pic... not sure how easy this stuff is to see from my cameraphone since its so tiny and matches the color of my rock... but here it is: If you look at the polyp in the center of the rock, you will see to the right and left of it are the stuff I'm talking about.
