If I were to put a few 4 watt moonlights in my 2 ft deep tank would they be too bright or would they give me a halide type shimmer?

you mean you can get shimmer from moonlights like from halides? I have 2 x1 watt moonlites now but my lfs has 4 watt moonlites also. If I leave them on would I get halide like shimmer?

you are likely right,they are probably 54 watt. the tek looks good but the shimmer is so nice with halides. also I have an open top with the 2 fixtures across resting on eurobraces and moonlights between the fixtures. with the tek I don`t know where I could put the moonlights.

I agree,that`s a lot of money if there are cheap parts to it, I have and love my open top tank,only problem is I use 4x56 watt t5`s with seperate reflectoes that lie across the tank top and It`s hard to find moonlites that don`t need to go in a canopy or all in one fixture.

had a coralife pc lunar aqualight and found it cheaply made,fans vibrated etc. hopefully the halide unit is better built.
