different clown species together in a tank

I've read that the Maroon clown is the most aggressive of all the clowns so if you're going with them you might as well not put any other species of clowns in there. If you HAD to you could introduce them at the same time or the more peaceful types first to see what happens.

    First corals

I say go with zoathids. They are very easy and they grow very fast so it will get your confidence up. My zoathids grow a lot faster than my mushrooms and look a lot nicer IMO.

Do I have to use "reef" salt?

Once salt is mixed reactions are still happening so you want to wait at least 24 hours for the salt water to stabilize. Also I've heard that the alk is very low at first and it slowly goes up once you mix it. BTW you should put a heater in your mixing bucket so when you add the water to your...

    911 visible parasite on fish

I've always read that Isopods are pretty rare in aquariums, but if you get them you should quarantine your fish, dispose of your sand and rocks, and let your aquarium run without anything in it for 2-3 months to make sure the isopods are gone. Those isopods are pretty nasty critters, but I'm...

How to quarantine a lawnmower blenny

I have a 100G with 80 pounds of live rock right now. That should be enough right? I also don't have much of an algae clean up crew right now (3 turbos, couple hermits, some other random hitchers). The guy I'm thinking about getting is pretty small, like 2-3 inches.

55g clean up crew..what do you think?

Also, I forgot to mention this, in Marine Invertebrates by Ronald L. Shimek he recommends not to get more than 1 hermit crab per 10 gallons if you are doing a reef tank. I've also read that some corals can become damaged from the hermits walking on them. Some people have had great success with...

what macroalgea is maroon and bubble shaped.

The bubble-ish algae could be grape caulerpa, which is beneficial as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

    Good moonlights

If you're going to pay a lot for moon lights maybe you should look into the moontube moonlights. They come with a controller to simulate the moon's cycles, but they are pretty pricey like the PFOs.

55g clean up crew..what do you think?

I would recommend that you start out small and work your way up. If you don't have much algae then lots of your critters will end up dying of starvation so sometimes its better to buy 5 or so at a time and add more until you think that you have enough. Also with that many hermits it might be...

How to quarantine a lawnmower blenny

My lfs finally got a lawnmower blenny in and I was just wondering how I can quarantine this guy if I decide to get him. I've read that they need lots of live rock so they can eat the algae, but I've also read that they will sometimes accept algae sheets. Should I just put him in my dt without...

Confused about yellow and blue hippo tang together in 90

In Marine Fishes by Scott W. Michael it lists the yellow tang needing 75G. It also says if you want two tangs you should have at least 135G.

Lots Of Questions, Lots Of Pictures No 56k!

If I was in your position I would go to your local fish store and ask the owner for some help. Maybe he could come over check things out and explain the basics. Your nitrates are really high so you need to do water changes, make sure you unplug the heaters that might go above the water because...
