ive just been havin trouble keeping my nitrates down..im running a protein skimmer and have some plants and stuff but they lower for a while and then spike back up ive been having problems keeping it below 40ppm..id like to add a refugium or something because ive been reading that they can help...

you can also try an urchin. they are great algae eaters! our lawnmower blenny also eats the algae on the glass. good luck..and limit the amount of time u keep ur lights on per day!

i was thinking about buying a CPR style hang on refugium off ---- and was wondering if anyone had advice for me. I wasnt sure what size to get...they have a 12 inch L one and an 18 inch. i have a 55 gallon tank.

i have a porcupine puffer, and we feed him frozen krill and frozen bloodworms. he will eat just about anything meaty, but he does not like the freeze-dried krill. he does eat freeze dried bloodworms and brine shrimp though. they do make a LOT of waste though!
